The Molly Hurley Memorial Scholarship was created to honor the memory of Molly Hurley and to give forward to those in the community who dream of following in Molly's footsteps in the art of cosmetology.

Scholarship Guidelines

The Molly Hurley Memorial Scholarship is an annual scholarship created by the Molly Hurley Scholarship Committee and the Keokuk Area Community Foundation. The Molly Hurley Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to any student pursuing a career in cosmetology. ALL and ANY types of students may apply for a Molly Hurley Memorial Scholarship.  

If awarded a Molly Hurley Memorial Scholarship, the student must be enrolled in a college/university/cosmetology school before receiving a scholarship payment. The student applicant must also have a permanent address in Lee County, Iowa; Clark County, Missouri; or Hancock County, Illinois.

The Molly Hurley Memorial Scholarship could be worth up to $7,500.00. In the Molly Hurley Memorial Scholarship Application, you will be asked to provide contact information, community involvement, and an essay.

Timeline / Deadline

The Molly Hurley Scholarship Application will open on.

January 11, 2027. The deadline to complete the online application is April 12, 2027.

If you are a high school student and are selected for the Molly Hurley Memorial Scholarship, you will be notified at your high school’s award ceremony, typically in May. Every applicant will know the results of their application-successful or otherwise-by email in June.

If you are awarded the Molly Hurley Memorial Scholarship, you will be sent an email in May with instructions on how to accept the award. As a scholarship recipient, you will not be receiving a check. The Molly Hurley Memorial Scholarship award check will be issued to your college/university/cosmetology school with a cover letter from the Keokuk Area Community Foundation. If you’ve submitted your scholarship acceptance materials on time and correctly, your check will be issued in July and sent directly to the college/university/cosmetology school.
