
20th Anniversary Gala
May 2025: The Keokuk Area Community Foundation celebrated its 20th Anniversary in a Gala on May 3, 2025, at Meyers Courtyard. Founded in 2005, the Keokuk Area Community Foundation has received $23,026,592 in donations from 4390 donors, awarded $9,270,923 in grants and scholarships to 2313 organizations and 426 students.
At the Gala, Executive Director Roger R. Ricketts, celebrated three main achievements:
- The founding of the foundation by George Eichacker and Dick Lofton.
- The partnership the Keokuk Area Community Foundation has had with North Lee Community Foundation.
- The establishment of the Matteson Scholarship in 2020, which gives scholarship to Southeast Iowa Students.
The Keokuk Area Community Foundation awarded the Eichacker Award for Philanthropy posthumously to Lawerence Matteson. The Eichacker Award for Philanthropy is awarded to individuals that have demonstrated a sincere commitment and active leadership with non-profit organizations (schools, charities, churches or social and health care organizations) through their committed volunteer service and philanthropic giving.
Mike Hickey was awarded the Lofton Award for Community Leadership for his service to many Keokuk organizations including, but not limited to: Keokuk Hospital Foundation, Lee County Economic Development, Lee County Charitable Fund and the Keokuk Area Community Foundation. The Lofton Award for Community Leadership is awarded to individuals for their sustained commitment to volunteerism and service to the city of Keokuk, the State of Iowa and to the United States of America.
